Dump site registry completed, cleaning of the Krivaja has begun from Olovo to Buk. Over 4km cleaned in the first days using drone footage for mapping.
The illegal dump site registry has been completed and active cleaning of the Krivaja river has begun along the stretch from Olovo to Buk (Zavidovići).
In the first days of the action, more than 4 kilometers of the river course were cleaned. Drone footage was used for terrain mapping and documenting conditions, enabling precise logistics planning and team deployment in the field.
Teams have been formed in three municipalities — Zavidovići, Olovo, and Maglaj — working in coordination to remove waste from the river and its banks.
In the coming period, a large action with more than 300 volunteers is planned for September/October, covering a wider section of the Krivaja river.
In addition to cleanup efforts, plans include the procurement of a plastic processing laboratory that will serve as a pilot project for sustainable waste management, and the construction of a multifunctional eco-classroom for educating youth about aquatic ecosystem protection.
This project is part of a broader program spanning the Danube region and 9 countries, with the goal of not just cleaning up waste, but demonstrating how waste should be properly managed.
The KRIOT project is implemented in a consortium between UDEG and the Municipality of Olovo, with support from the European Union via the DALIA Rivers Revived program.
